The opening men's double match was played between Pranko Miso and Durbo Mimi against Tao Dele and Pridi Mimi, and won by Miso and Mimi. In the women's singles match, Apali Mega defeated Ajiya Umpe, while in men's singles, B. Breeng defeated Sondo Mele and Tao Dele was defeated by Toli Tacha.
In the second men's doubles match, Apomo Linggi and Ambra Mena defeated Ebo Mili and Welso Kri, while in the Under 19 boys singles match Jintu won over Jete Miuli. The final match is scheduled on Saturday.

ZIRO, Jan 15: Twenty people were deported back and 55 vehicles penalized in a joint checking drive carried out by the district administration and district transport department at Joram, Lower Subansiri today.
The team collected a sum of Rs 12,000 as fines and two vehicles were also seized during the drive carried out under the super vision of EAC Yowa Tapu, SI Messar, SI IRBN Riram, DTO and other staff.
Dambuk KGBV brings laurels for LDV

ROING, Jan 15: The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidhyalaya (KGBV) Dambuk won the "best discipline school' title in the recently held International Girls' Day celebration that was organized by the SSA Rajya Mission at Itanagar from January 8 and 13. The KGBV Dambuk bagged 22 medals in different events. Sila Modi of KGBV Dambuk won the Best Athlete Award, while Anili Elapra won the Best Coordinator Award. However, in overall championship, Dambuk KGBV secured second position after KGBV, Changlang. The Dambuk KGBV run by the Arunachal Woman and Child Welfare Society represented the Lower Dibang Valley district during the event.
Natung visit remote circle Hq
SEPPA, Jan 15: Parliamentary Secretary Tourism Mama Natung began visit to his constituency from the remotest circle headquarter Richikrong of East Kameng District yesterday.
Addressing public meeting at Richikrong and Kajung, Natung said that he is determined to bring a change for overall development of the area in a phase wise manner. He said that road connectivity, electricity, water supply to left out villages, posting of teachers and medical staff is his duty. He appealed the teachers of his constituency to discharge their duties properly.
Talking about development, he had a clarion call to the public not to put up unnecessary complaints whenever govt. schemes were sanctioned in the area which deterred the development process. Whoever the contractor was irrelevant but the works should be done properly as per specification for the benefits of the people, he added.
Responding to a memorandum, he announced sanction of Rostrum, bathroom for all the teachers' quarters, water supply of the govt. quarters and water supply at Talem Sima and Kajung village. He also assured for black topping of PMGSY road from 6 km point of Trizino road to Richikrong.
DDSE Kata Rangmo highlighted about the functioning of the SMC. He said that duty of SMC is to see that whether the teachers are doing their duty or not and also to ensure that the students are attending the classes. ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Reacting to the demand for suspension of Capital DC in connection with land allotment to one Kipa Yaro, her son Kipa Niya today claimed that the said land was systemically allotted to his mother.
Moreover, Niya said, the matter is now under the HC's jurisdiction, therefore, demand for resignation of the DC on this matter holds no water. Niya further said that authorities may set up an enquiry if the land was not systematically allotted and on demand of resignation of the DC to ascertain the truth.
Meanwhile, one Kipa Tetey also said that the demand for resignation of the Capital DC on this matter of land allotment is baseless. The land allotment was done by Papum Pare DC during 2004 and the Capital DC post was created only in 2008, he said.

ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Itanagar Municipal Council Ward No 5 Councillor Taba Yall Nabam today inaugurated Apna Rasta (Footpath) from near Vivekananda Central School, Vivek Vihar point to Upper Vivek Vihar Colony here in a simple function. Committee alleges violation of DPR
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: The Rubdi Youth Welfare Committee has lodged a complaint with the Secretary Rural Work Department against the executing agency of ongoing Shally to Rubdi PMGSY road. The said road is being implemented by RWD, Ziro Division through a local firm.
In its complaint letter addressed to the Secretary, the Committee claimed that the work executing agency is allegedly carrying out the construction work through a different route skipping the originally aligned route.
The department has adopted unnecessary zigzag patterns of road construction only to incur expenditure and increase the length of the road, the Committee alleged, adding the said road can be shortened by 3 km and unnecessary expenditures can be checked.
It fervently appealed the Secretary to intervene into the matter and direct the Executive Engineer, RWD, Ziro Division to carry out the work as per original alignment. It threatened to go for legal action if the demand is not fulfilled within three days.

Urgent need to develop border areas: Governor Sharma
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh Lt. Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma emphasized that there is urgent need for strengthening the effort in developing border areas in the international and interstate boundaries. He suggested on expediting road connectivity projects to address the challenge.
He said this during a meeting with the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Jan 14. They discussed on border area development and coordination amongst the security agencies and State Governments to instil sense of security among the people.
The Governor also stressed for appropriate mechanism to ensure proper coordination amongst the security forces to ensure foolproof security in the border areas, no infiltration and suggested for security drills as deterrents.
Referring to recent carnage in Assam and spill over violence incidence in Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor called for more coordination and cooperation among the State Government and security machineries.
The Governor, who is on an official tour to National Capital also met Dr. V.K. Saraswat, member NITI Aayog in New Delhi on the day.
In the meeting, the Governor reiterated for Arunachal specific proposals to attend
the unique requirements of the frontier state of the country, which has international
boundaries with 3 countries. He shared the challenges of the State owing the tough
terrain, harsh climate and small population with huge area. He also informed Dr.
Saraswat that as the ongoing projects particularly road connectivity, are not within
the scheduled timeframe due to environmental factors. The Governor suggested for
considerate and compassionate view while dealing with States like Arunachal Pradesh.
They also discussed on harnessing the huge hydropower potential, solar and wind energies
in the State. Continuing his effort in apprising the central ministries of the bottlenecks
and urgent requirement of the State, the Governor called on the Union Minister of
State for Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu in the evening. He called for expediting
the railway projects in the State announced by the Ministry, particularly the Murkongselek-

Byaling launches Aam Admi Bima Yojana for 3 districts
ITANAGAR, Jan 15: Home and Power Minister Tanga Byaling has launched first phase of Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) covering BPL families of Kurung Kumey, Upper Subansiri and Upper Siang in a glittering function at SIRD conference Hall here today.

BJP demands Govt to issue PMJDY card before Republic Day

ITANAGAR, Jan 15: State unit Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has today demanded the state government to issue Pradhan Mantri Jhan Dan Yojna (PMJDY) card, a scheme for comprehensive financial inclusion launched by the Prime Minister of India, to the public before upcoming Republic Day.
Addressing the reporters here at Arunachal Press Club today, party's chief spokesperson RK Khrimey said that the state government is yet to provide PMJDY card to the respective account holders even after it was launched last August.

Yingkiong gets Govt. Polytechnic College
YINGKIONG, Jan 15: "Education can grow well where there is a silent and conducive atmosphere" said Education Minister Tapang Taloh in a public gathering at Yingkiong after laying down the foundation stone for construction of Govt. Polytechnic College at Mobyar (Yingkiong) yesterday.
He hoped that the poor children of the area will avail education in the Polytechnic College as the college is being established at their door steps. He informed that Govt. has sanctioned Rs. 8 crores, out of which Rs. 2 crores will be sanctioned/released immediately for starting the construction work. He further said that there should not be any compromise in quality of works and requested the District Administration, public leaders and land donors to initiate necessary action for acquisition of the land at the earliest and also suggested them to properly monitor the construction work in order to maintain quality of work.

25 APCS aspirants benefit from free coaching prog

Marathi, Punjabi etc gathered at Komlighat this morning and took a holy dip in Siang
water on account of Maker Sankranti. The members of Donyi-
Pasighat DFO(T), Tabang Jamoh, president of organizing committee, stated that in the coming days they will undertake slew of activities aimed at creating an ambience of love and tolerance for cultural prosperity.
It needs to be mentioned here that Komolighat was developed under the initiative of former East Siang Deputy Commissioner, RK Mishra, who spearheaded movement to cleanse the riverbank jungles and set up a recreation park at the location. The local people have demanded administration to develop the area as tourist destination.
Participating on the occasion, Pasighat East MLA, Kaling Moyong urged the people to maintain unity and brotherhood for overall development. Impressed by overwhelming participation of different communities, the MLA expressed hope to organize the Aarti in grandeur manner in the future.

The absence of proper air connectivity with the major cities of country has been a cause of concern for the people of Arunachal. The helicopter service currently being operated is just not enough to meet the demands of the travelers. To make the matter worse, the proposed Green Field Airport at Hollongi is caught up in bureaucratic shackle at the ministry of civil aviation. However, today Governor Lt. True spirit of a peaceful protest
Dear Editor,
The 96 hours hunger strike launched by a young lady Ujum Perying which concluded peacefully at 10 AM on 12th January has made a mark in the political history of Arunachal Pradesh. It was democratic; therefore it received support from various walks of life. Had it been in undemocratic way she might have not received so much support in her endeavour. The effectiveness of peaceful way of protest has widely been understood by many people through her 96 hours long hunger strike. In fact it has sent a strong message across the state. What she is doing is not the matter but as a citizen of Arunachal State, her chosen method of protest is truly appreciable. Even the State Government and AP Public Service Commission too should appreciate her democratic protest after all we are living together in a democratic Society. Redressing of demands placed by her is at the wisdom of AP Public Service Commission and State Government and they should work out its possible ways to solve this problem at the earliest possible.
In support of her demands, four more persons dared to resort to an indefinite fast. The gravity of the situation has further increased and what next I do not know but I wish no one should go beyond democratic purview so that very democratic fabrics of our peaceful State is not disturbed.
I as a journalist in many occasions have seen vandalism of offices, police stations, burning of buses and damaging of properties by various agitators which attracted condemnations from many sections of society.
For the first time an agitator received lots of support from various corner of life because of her democratic approach without causing inconvenience to any one rather putting herself to a great extent of pain by not taking food for 96 hours. It seems true spirit of peaceful protest in a democratic way is dawning in the State.

A neglected district
Dear Editor,
Through your esteem daily, I would like to share the reality of Dibang valley District Anini, which had been created since two decades ago but still remain undermined in terms of infrastructure development and sincerity of government employees. After more than one and half year staying outside the state, when I went back to home district, I was utterly surprised as well as frustrated towards the policy of state government. Since time immemorial people of Dibang valley Anini have faced many untold pathetic testimonies due to havoc of natural disaster & climatic condition, at the same time case of negligence by state government; we are neither competing nor comparing with other district for university, industry etc. Simply we pray that the state government kindly pay a bit of attention towards our district. Despite the fact that it is situated near international border, it remains isolated from rest of the world.
There is an epithet in Arunachal, Anini is the place of punishment for government employee, resulting in inefficient and complacent attitude of officers. None of government staff remain in their posting place & duty, basic medical facilities are unavailable resulting in many difficulties of patients particularly pregnant women.
Middle schools and primary schools have become bastion of cattle and there is only one higher secondary school that too with inadequate staff. Luckily, it is bestowed with one JNV which is also not completed till now.
On the other hand, inflation of basic commodities is skyrocketing. One kg of potato is sold at eighty rupees but administration seems not bothered, which isn’t a joke at all. One way of Transportation charges from Roing to Anini is more than six hundreds rupees while high risk of life is enormous with pathetic roads condition. Students who are studying in middle and primary school hailing from far off places face untold difficulties due to irregular stipends which is most vital for poor students.
The primary duty of state government is to promote basic education as well as right to education but it does not work over there.
In Delhi, we stand together for the cause of north eastern people and ask for equality in all aspect but when we come back to our own state and home district, it is rather disappointing to see all the inequality.
